AT&T and Apple are both partners and competitors, and nowhere is this clearer than in the two companies' music strategies and how they relate to the iPhone. Apple has iTunes, but AT&T has its own branded music service. While the iPhone runs on AT&T's network, the device uses Apple's music service. This leaves AT&T concentrating on subscriber growth with the iPhone, but leaves those customers out of AT&T's reach for digital services, according to a Yankee Group analyst.
