Wal-Mart rethinks strategy for consumers' standard of living

Budget-conscious consumers are finding ways to use store-purchased products to maintain a standard of living they might have previously pursued through other means, according to Wal-Mart executives speaking at a recent retail trends conference. Customers might still buy higher-priced Ben & Jerry's ice cream in a store, for example, because it's cheaper than going out for a single cone.
