CDC: H1N1 flu shots may be available first week of October

The first vaccines for H1N1 flu could be given to patients in the first week of October, earlier than previously planned, following studies that showed a single vaccine to be effective, said Nancy Cox, CDC flu division director. The vaccines that will be available early next month will be allotted for health care workers and those most at risk of the disease, including pregnant women and children, Cox said.
