Primary care physician shortage key hurdle for reform

A key hurdle for health reform is finding enough primary care physicians to handle an extra 50 million or so newly insured patients. Loan repayment programs, a team-based approach to care that incorporates nurse practitioners and other health care providers, and increasing primary care salaries are some of the efforts aimed at bolstering primary care.
