Smiths Medical recalls tracheal tubes, FDA says

The FDA said Smiths Medical voluntarily recalled certain units of Portex uncuffed pediatric-sized tracheal tubes because the devices have smaller diameters that do not match the measurements that are stated on the label, a defect that might lead to an increase in airway resistance thus affecting the ability to ventilate a patient. Smiths Medical said it hasn't received any reports of deaths or injuries linked to the defect, and it advised customers to assess their inventory for the products that were made before this month and return unused devices to the firm.
