Veteran teachers share experience with new educators

A mentoring program in a Kansas school district connects experienced educators with new teachers. The Lawrence school district has 16 learning coaches who offer guidance to novice teachers. Having a mentor for the first year of teaching is a state condition for teacher licensing. "It's a nice cushion to fall back on, just somebody to actually talk with," said a new teacher about working with a learning coach who has 27 years of teaching experience.
