Hold off on election-based tax planning

Given the election-year uncertainty about the tax and spending proposals from the Obama administration and Congress, advisers should tell their clients to avoid major changes to their financial strategies until after the polls close. Some clients already are shifting their portfolios in expectation of higher taxes, but most advisers are taking a wait-and-see approach.
