Maine officials forced cleanup of egg farm

Officials in Maine used laws on the state's books to force egg producer Jack DeCoster to clean up his facilities and hire a staff veterinarian, in an effort to avoid a salmonella outbreak. Now, as Iowa deals with the massive egg recall from two of its state's operations, including one owned by DeCoster, one candidate for the post of state agriculture secretary says the state needs to enact vaccination requirements and an inspection program for egg-producing facilities.
