"Social contagion" might spur doctors to go digital

Two recent studies found that doctors show more interest in electronic medical records if another doctor in their social network uses them. One of the studies, published in Management Science, found that large hospitals are more likely to adopt EHRs if small hospitals in the region have done so. The researchers suggested that "physician champions" to promote EHR use should be personally popular in their social networks.
