Survey demonstrates need for telestroke initiatives at rural hospitals

A survey of rural hospitals in the northwestern U.S. indicated that 88% say their communities suffer from a lack of access to a stroke neurologist. The survey also found that most of the respondents are seeking to address the problem through telestroke efforts, with 45% saying they are already working on a telestroke initiative supported by audio/visual technology, while 18% are looking into it.
