EU is set to boost supervisors' powers over spot commodity markets

The EU plans to bolster market-abuse rules to keep up with technological advances, including high-frequency trading. Regulators will gain authority to investigate spot commodity trading systems to limit price manipulation, according to a draft document. "By gaining access to spot commodity market traders' systems, competent authorities are also able to monitor real-time data flows," the document states.
