La. city buys 5 CNG-powered buses, builds fueling station

Lafayette (La.) Transit Service acquired five compressed natural gas-fueled buses, each costing $430,000, through a Federal Transit Administration Formula Grant and discretionary capital grants, according to the Lafayette Consolidated Government. "Federal Recovery Act funds from the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act were also used in this procurement," LCG added. LCG is also building a temporary CNG fueling station and will begin constructing a permanent CNG station in two months.
