Texas city OKs 2 wind-power deals, allows talks for third

The city council of Austin, Texas, signed off on two new power-purchase deals between Austin Energy and two coastal wind projects, and authorized the utility to begin negotiating a third deal. The first two agreements are for Duke Energy Generation Services' wind project in Cameron County and MAP Royalty's White Tail project in Webb County. The negotiation is for a 25-year power-purchase deal with Iberdrola Renewables' 200-megawatt Penascal III wind project in Kenedy County. Read Austin Energy's news release.
