Twitter starts a limited beta of analytics platform

Twitter has launched its Web Analytics platform for a selected audience of beta testers. The system, which will be rolled out more broadly in a few weeks, allows brands to monitor tweeted references to their sites, keep tabs on inbound traffic and optimize placement of share-to-Twitter buttons. The data stream also will be made available as an API for third-party developers.
