Wildfire losses in Texas are estimated at $250 million

Losses from recent wildfires in Texas could hit $250 million, with the Bastrop County fires possibly accounting for $150 million of that total, said Mark Hanna of the Insurance Council of Texas. More than 1,900 homes have been destroyed in the fires, according to the Texas Forest Service. Dry conditions are expected to persist through autumn, worsening the drought.
