More who lack drug coverage decline to fill prescriptions

The percentage of Americans who do not have prescription drug coverage and did not fill a prescription because of cost was 45% this year, up from 27% in 2011, according to a Consumer Reports survey. Close to half of U.S. consumers use prescription drugs at an average of 4.1 prescriptions each. Consumers can save by switching from branded drugs to generics, Consumer Reports suggests.
