How principal turnover affects teachers, schools

Educator Jane O'Halloren describes in this blog post her experience of having six principals during six years in the classroom. She writes that there should be more focused, national attention -- grounded in research on school leadership -- on how to keep principals in schools for longer than a year or two. "Because of these changes in leadership, time and energy I should have spent on my students was instead spent trying to figure out each new leadership discourse and the unwritten rules and values of that discourse," she writes.
