Baltimore convention hotel project gets state's cold shoulder

Maryland officials say that unless Baltimore City guarantees discounted room rates for a planned convention headquarters hotel, the state will not fund any part of the project. Baltimore reportedly asked the state for as much as $25 million for the project, and city officials said they are prepared to fund the hotel without state help, if necessary.
