District plans two hotels on New York Avenue

In Washington, D.C., two hotels are planned on New York Avenue where a 150-room Travelodge now sits; in its place will be a 125-room, five-story Holiday Inn Express and a 126-room, five-story Fairfield Inn & Suites, which are slated to open in March 2008. Both hotels are expected to charge about $120 to $150 a night, as opposed to the more expensive and ritzy District hotels that charge an average of $179 per night.
