AA first major carrier to collect Secure Flight data

Airport security could get a little smoother as American Airlines today becomes the first major commercial carrier to collect expanded passenger information under the TSA's Secure Flight program. At the time of purchase, American passengers will be asked to provide their names as they appear on their government-issued identification, along with gender and date of birth. The program aims to boost security while reducing confusion over names similar to those on the government's terrorist watch lists.
