College students tour Alabama's Shelby County Airport

Birmingham Southern students toured the Shelby County Airport in Calera, Ala., to learn about general aviation. The students got a chance to tour gliders, low wing and high wing aircraft and tail draggers. "Since we are a liberal arts college, we wanted these new students to encounter interdisciplinary thinking, in this case about airports," said adviser David Smith, who is also a private pilot.
