Study uncovers blood-vessel growth mechanism

U.S. researchers have discovered that blood vessel growth can be triggered by signals that come from inside the blood vessel. Scientists previously thought signals for forming new blood vessels came from only the outside. The researchers also said that defects in the Flt-1 protein can cause abnormal vessel sprouts and poor networks.
