Woolies expects to create thousands of jobs with hardware foray

Woolworths says that over the next seven years as many as 15,000 jobs will be created, directly or indirectly, in Victoria, Australia, through its move into the hardware and home-improvement market. The first store in the company's new hardware chain will be built in Melbourne's north, while another 30 outlets are planned for Victoria. The stores are part of Woolworths' joint venture with Lowe's, the US-based home-improvement retailer.
