Can iPads engage students in reading?

A Colorado private school is distributing iPads to 90 fifth- and sixth-graders through a pilot program that will allow students to also use the $499 devices at home. Officials say Apple, Columbia University, the University of Colorado and others are interested in researching the device's educational benefits. "The main question is if it works to help kids engage in reading," the school's headmaster said.
