Corporate leaders are giving sustainability a more prominent place on their priority lists, according to a report by Global Compact and Accenture. More than nine of 10 executives say sustainability is "critical" to their companies' future. That's partly a byproduct of the global downturn, analysts say, because tough times and limited resources allowed green-business techniques to prove their worth. "CEOs are now seeing signs of sustainability becoming real business in terms of revenue growth or cost or risk or tangible contribution to brand," says the report's project leader.
