Microsoft releases Internet Explorer 9 as public beta

Microsoft has unveiled a public beta version of its Internet Explorer 9 browser, which is designed to offer users faster processing, HTML 5 support and a pared-down interface. The release, which is not available on Windows XP, comes as the company struggles to regain market share lost to rival systems such as Google's Chrome and Firefox. IE9 is designed to emphasize websites, not the Web browser, said Microsoft Vice President Dean Hachamovitch.
