Sources: WTO finds Boeing got less in illegal subsidies than Airbus

The World Trade Organization has determined that Boeing received illegal government support, but the amount is a fraction of improper subsidies that European governments gave to aviation rival Airbus, said sources on the U.S. side of the dispute. The WTO states in an unpublished preliminary finding that Boeing received "in excess of $5 billion in illegal subsidies," a trade official familiar with the document said. A European trade source said the amount represents only a small portion of subsidies ruled to be illegal.
