FDA unveils new foodborne illness response team

In an effort to respond more quickly and efficiently to foodborne illness outbreaks, FDA has created the Coordinated Outbreak Response and Evaluation Network, which is comprised of epidemiologists, microbiologists and veterinarians. In addition to investigating new foodborne illness outbreaks, CORE will also develop prevention plans to avoid further outbreaks as laid out by the Food Safety Modernization Act.
