Study: Type of fiber affects weight-loss potential

An analysis in Obesity Reviews showed that consuming viscous fibers such as pectin and beta-glucans may curb appetite by 60%, while arabinoxylan-rich fibers were associated with the greatest reduction in energy intake, and fibers such as dextrins and marine polysaccharides had the best weight-loss effects. The findings suggest that the type and structure of dietary fibers play a role in weight loss and weight management, researchers said.
