Americans do some pretty odd things in Wal-Mart Shoppers recently fought with monkeys, munched on raw meat, battled bats, and dashed naked through the aisles. "At any given moment in the U.S., there are 850,000 Americans inside Wal-Mart stores," says Wal-Mart scholar Charles Fishman. "If only one-tenth of 1 percent of them are doing something a little distinctive, well, that's still almost 1,000 people."
