3D visual imaging reports enhance communication, researchers report

New software, Visual Interpretation with Three-Dimensional Annotations, turns two-dimensional reports into dynamic, three-dimensional volumetric images that have been shown to improve communication between medical professionals and patients, according to a study published in the Journal of Digital Imaging. Ultimately, researchers would like to develop the technology to the point that they can mark the progression or regression of tumor margins in 3D over time.
