European telecoms are said to be rethinking plans to sell off wireless assets in the wake of AT&T's purported interest in expanding to the continent, especially after news that Vodafone is selling off its stake in Verizon Wireless, according to a published report. Analysts believe Vodafone's move could spark AT&T to launch a takeover bid for the British-based telecom, which would make AT&T a major competitive threat to European carriers. "It’s a potentially seismic event, the first real entry of a major international telco into the European space," said Paul Marsch, an analyst at London's Berenberg Bank. AT&T did not provide comment for the report.
