European stocks were marginally higher Friday, with the Stoxx Europe 600 up 0.23% at 311.46 after a week of gains supported by mergers and acquisitions and better economic news out of China. In the U.S., stocks gained ground as investors anticipated this week's Federal Reserve decision and Syria tensions eased. The S&P 500 was up 0.27% to 1,687.99.
