Senate committee votes to block overtime changes

The Senate Appropriations Committee voted yesterday to oppose an overtime provision that took effect Aug. 23, which critics say would take away overtime pay for millions of workers such as nurses, chefs and police officers. The White House and Labor Department say the changes clarify overtime parameters in the modern work force.
