L.A. train crash could have been prevented by technology

Federal officials said last week's train crash in Los Angeles could have been prevented by positive train-control technology. The technology monitors train locations and speeds and can turn on brakes remotely to prevent head-on collisions. Twenty-five people died in the collision between a Metrolink commuter train and a Union Pacific freight train.
