Retailers understand that social media is much more of a two-way conversation than traditional outlets are. Target has sought input from its Facebook fans to improve the store's products. Best Buy is relying on local employees to answer questions from customers. "People actually do the work for you," the owner of a Minnesota pizza place says. "If they like our brand ... they'll help us spread the word."
