Celiac disease linked to higher mortality rate

A study indicates that people with celiac disease have a 39% increased risk of death compared with people without the disease. Cancer and heart disease were the main causes of death, and the risk was higher in people who had undergone biopsies of their small intestines in childhood, the researchers found.
