Court rejects local tax on Philadelphia arrivals

A federal court on Monday sided with the U.S. Transportation Department in striking down a Pennsylvania township tax on commercial flights landing at Philadelphia International Airport. Tinicum Township attempted to levy the tax in 2007, saying funds were needed to provide police and fire support to the airport. Three of PHI's four runways occupy township land.
