N.Y. judge dismisses Web retailers' objections over "Amazon tax"

Despite objections from Amazon and Overstock, a judge in New York has upheld a law that requires online retailers, regardless of whether they have a physical presence in New York, to collect state taxes from consumers. The ruling contradicts a U.S. Supreme Court decision from 1992. Other states are expected to follow New York's lead.
