Schwarzenegger signs order boosting alternative energy

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed an executive order on Tuesday requiring the state's electric utilities to generate 33% of energy from renewable sources by 2020. Schwarzenegger also plans to veto two Democratic bills passed earlier that would boost development of "green" industries in the state. The governor objected to a provision in the bills that would limit utilities' ability to purchase out-of-state credits to meet their renewable goals.
