Census Bureau cites record increase in uninsured Americans

The number of uninsured Americans rose to 50.7 million in 2009 -- 16.7% of the country -- according to the Census Bureau. The agency started tracking such data in 1987. Experts say that because of recession-related unemployment and rising costs of medical care, the uninsured population will continue to grow until 2014, when the health reform law is completely in effect.
