Elementary school bans cupcakes as birthday treats

Vandenberg Elementary School in Redford, Mich., banned cupcakes in class as a way to celebrate a child's birthday and asked parents to send healthy food instead. The school, which focuses on nutrition and exercise, also does not allow junk food to be sold at fundraisers and has swapped pizza parties for dodgeball games.
