Firms have strengthened their IT controls

Significantly fewer companies are reporting IT control weaknesses than just a few years ago, according to data from Audit Analytics. The trend conforms with an overall drop in internal control violations as a result of Sarbanes-Oxley, accountant Dan Schroeder said. Firms with inadequate IT controls are more likely to suffer from management problems and commit more forecasting errors, experts say.
