Leaders without borders

The leaders of the future will have to learn to transcend national, corporate and cultural boundaries, says Andrew Pettigrew, a business professor at Oxford University. As business becomes ever more global, Pettigrew argues, CEOs will find themselves operating in a wide range of environments, not all of which they'll be able to control directly. "This requires a level of cooperation, it requires diplomatic skill, a level of international understanding, that I think many leaders today would be sorely challenged [by]," he says.
