CMS pays out $652 million in EHR incentives to date

The CMS as of last month had enrolled 90,000 hospitals and providers in the Medicare and Medicaid programs for demonstrating meaningful use of electronic health records and had issued $652 million in incentive payments to date. The program has attracted providers across a wide age range, despite concerns that older providers "wouldn't be interested since they are close to retiring," CMS official Robert Anthony said at an HIT Policy Committee meeting.
