MSOs undervalue AMC, chief executive says

AMC Networks has several popular scripted series, but CEO Josh Sapan says the network is still looking for ways to make the channel more profitable, including launching unscripted shows and arguing for more money from cable companies. AMC should be getting 75 cents a subscriber, about two times its current fee, Sapan argues. The discrepancy is the result of the network's rapid transformation, he notes. "The AMC that a distributor purchased and contracted for 4½ years ago is actually nothing like AMC today. It's literally almost a different channel," he said.
