Senate panel approves bigger budgets for SEC and CFTC

The Senate Appropriations Committee approved significant budget increases for the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. The full Senate will take up the measure. Meanwhile, House Financial Services Chairman Spencer Bachus, R-Ala., has said that an "increase in funding is probably necessary as part of the reform process."
