U.S. gym memberships hit record level

Massachusetts is the top state for gym membership, according to a report by the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association, which also found nationwide membership in 2010 hit a record high at 50.2 million. Its survey of almost 40,000 people found 40% participate in group fitness classes, 60% lift weights and 60% use cardio equipment.
