ACP blueprint emphasizes leadership role of physicians in clinical care teams

Each clinical care team should have shared goals, good communication, a culture of trust and mutual respect for the skills and roles of every member, according to a blueprint released by the American College of Physicians in the Annals of Internal Medicine. While advanced practice registered nurses and other members of the team play important parts, physicians should be kept in the position of team leaders, the group said.
