Joint ventures seem to be the way to go for large construction projects in Canada. "The projects are getting larger and more complex and riskier, and their delivery needs bigger organizations with more capacity and more skills," said Michael Atkinson, president of the Canadian Construction Association. The joint ventures are popular in order to save money and ensure knowledgeable professionals are updated on the latest construction technologies. "These trends are being facilitated by new technologies such as BIM, which enable companies to combine different aspects of the design, building and maintenance process that traditionally have been done separately."
